| DPG organised a "Regional Conference on Advancing BIMSTEC Cooperation" in New Delhi, India on April 26-27, 2018. Over 30 scholars and experts from BIMSTEC countries - India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Nepal, Myanmar and Sri Lanka - participated in the deliberations. The Heads of Mission of Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Thailand addressed the inaugural session of the conference on April 26, 2018. Ambassador M. Discussions were divided into five thematic areas: Trade and Economic Integration; Transit and Multimodal Connectivity; Energy, Water, Climate Change, Environment and other issues; People to People Connectivity through Multi-sectoral Engagement; and Advancing Gender Issues in the BIMSTEC region. On Day-1 the participants made presentations and on Day-2 they brainstormed on developing two-year action plans for BIMSTEC countries in each of the thematic areas. |
