6th DPG-JIIA Indo-Pacific Forum, Tokyo
Date: November 15 - 16, 2023
The Delhi Policy Group (DPG) and The Japan Institute of International Affairs (JIIA) jointly organised the 6th India-Japan Indo-Pacific Forum in Tokyo on November 15-16, 2023. This was the 9th edition of the India-Japan Track 1.5 Dialogue series, co-anchored by DPG and JIIA. The event was hosted by JIIA with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan. The DPG delegation was supported by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India.
Deliberations at the Forum were structured into three sessions: "Global Power Alignments and Regional Developments in the Indo-Pacific" (Session 1); "India-Japan Bilateral Relations and Cooperation" (Session 2), and a review of the "The Influence and Promise of India and Japan in Shaping the Future of the Indo- Pacific (Open Session)" that reflected upon the insights from the previous twosessions.
H.E. Dr. S. Jaishankar, Minister of External Affairs, Government of India, and H.E. Ms. KamikawaYoko Minister for Foreign Affairs, Government of Japan, delivered virtual keynote addresses at the Open Session of the Forum on November 16, affirming the importance attached by both governments to this premier forum for strategic communication between think tank experts and senior officials from both sides, aimed at harnessing greater policy coordination on the wide-ranging issues facing the Indo-Pacific.
